Product Information


Tramadol X 225 tablets contain 225mg of the active ingredient Tramadol hydrochloride. It is prescribed to help relieve moderate to severe pain.  Tramadol is a synthetic analgesic similar to opioid analgesics that directly works on the brain. The exact mechanism of this drug is not filly understood, but it is believed that it works by binding to mu-opioid receptors and inhibits norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake to produce its analgesic effects. This medication may be used to help relieve postoperative, dental, cancer, and acute musculoskeletal pains.




Tramadol X 225 is manufactured by Singh-nature




A tablet of Tramadol X 225 must be swallowed whole with a glassful of water. Tramadol’s efficacy is not affected by food. It may be taken with or without food but must be taken the same way every time. If nausea is experienced, it is best to take the tablet with food. Normal release tablet or capsule forms may be taken every 4 to 6 hours and extended release forms must be taken every 12 to 24 hours. To improve tolerance to the drug and to reduce the risk of side effects at the beginning of therapy, a 10-day or 16-day titration of Tramadol is recommended.


Each patient’s dosage will vary as it will depend on the medical condition to be treated and individual response to treatment. Below are the usual adult doses for pain but does not serve as substitute for doctor’s advise. It is best to consult a doctor to get accurate dosing instructions.


The following are the recommended dosing information of Tramadol:

  • An initial dose of 25mg every morning.
  • Dose is increased in 25mg increments as separate doses every 3 days to reach 100mg per day, to be taken 25mg 4 times a day.
  • Dose may be increased by 50mg every 3 days to reach 200mg per day, to be taken 50mg 4 times a day.
  • After titrating the dose, 50mg to 100mg of Tramadol may be taken as needed every 4 to 6 hours


Maximum dose should not exceed 400mg per day. For patients older than 75 years, the maximum dose is 300mg per day.


Tramadol X 225 must be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor. The prescribed dose must not be changed or increased, nor the drug taken longer than prescribed. Stopping the intake of Tramadol X 225 must be done gradually do avoid withdrawal reactions such as restlessness, irritability, runny nose, nausea, sweating, and muscle aches.


Tramadol X 225 may be used as needed and it is unlikely to cause a missed dose. If it is taken regularly, skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose.




Tramadol X 225 is contraindicated to patients with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient Tramadol hydrochloride, any of its inactive ingredients, and to opioids. It is also contraindicated to patients with acute intoxication with alcohol, hypnotics, opioids, psychotropic drugs, or other centrally acting analgesics.


Patients with the following conditions must avoid taking this drug:

  • Severe renal impairment
  • Seizures
  • Head injury
  • Pregnancy
  • Nervous system function impairment
  • Nervous system infection
  • Suicidal
  • Weakened respiratory function


Combination of Tramadol with MAO inhibitors or intake of Tramadol within 2 weeks of discontinuation of MAOI therapy is contraindicated as it causes fatal drug interaction.


Side effects


Nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, and lightheadedness may commonly occur in patients taking Tramadol X 225. Rise up slowly from a sitting of lying position to avoid dizziness and lightheadedness. Other common side effects include constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, nervousness or anxiousness, itching, sweating, or flushing. Exercise, drinking plenty of water and fiber-rich diet will help prevent constipation. These common side effects usually go away with continued use. Healthcare providers must be contacted if these common side effects persist or worsen.


Notify healthcare providers immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:

  • Mental or mood changes
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Difficult urination
  • Infertility or missed periods
  • Weak or shallow breathing
  • Signs of adrenal gland problem such as appetite loss, weight loss, unusual tiredness
  • Severe skin reaction
  • Signs of allergic reaction such as hives, rash, itching, difficult breathing, swelling of face, throat, tongue


Seizures have occurred in some patients taking Tramadol. People with the following medical conditions may be at higher risk of getting seizure:

  • History of drug or alcohol addiction
  • History of epilepsy, head injury, and other seizure disorders
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Use of other medications such as antibiotics, antifungals, antihypertensive drugs and HIV medications


Tramadol may rarely cause a serious condition known as serotonin syndrome. The risk of of developing this condition increases when other drugs that increase serotonin are being taken. Symptoms include unexplained fever, unusual agitation or restlessness, hallucinations, fast heartbeat, severe dizziness, severe nausea, severe vomiting, severe diarrhea, muscle stiffness or twitching, loss of coordination.


Warnings and Precautions


Before taking Tramadol, it is important to consult a doctor to determine the safety of its use. It is important that a patient informs a doctor if any of these medical conditions apply:

  • Breathing problems
  • Intestinal or stomach blockage
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Stomach disorder
  • History of drug addiction, alcohol abuse
  • History of mental illness or suicide attempt
  • Brain disorders
  • mood disorders
  • gallbladder disease
  • disease of pancreas


Tramadol may also interact with other medications and substances such as

  • alcohol, allergy or cough-and-cold medications, narcotic medications, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants
  • street drug
  • St. John’s wort
  • Some antidepressants like SSRIs and SNRIs
  • Quinidine
  • Azole antifungals
  • HIV medications
  • Macrolide antibiotics
  • Rifamycins
  • Seizure medications


Avoid driving or operating hazardous tools or machineries as the drug may cause dizziness and drowsiness, which may affect one’s alertness or performance.


Tramadol may only be used by pregnant women when clearly needed. It may cause birth defects to the fetus when used during the first 2 months of pregnancy. It may also cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms to the newborn. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with Tramadol because of the risk of adverse effects.


Tramadol may cause drug dependence and drug tolerance with repeated use. It is best to take Tramadol strictly as the doctor prescribed. Tramadol is not recommended to patients with history of drug dependence and drug abuse.


Tramadol and Alcohol


Alcohol consumption must be avoided when taking Tramadol to prevent fatal intoxication and other side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness.
